We were delighted to invite children from across Norfolk to experience Be A Chorister Day at Norwich Cathedral on Saturday 19 January.

65 boys and girls from Norfolk primary schools enlisted to take part in Be a Chorister Day, including a group of boys from the Great Yarmouth area, who all attend the Firespinners boys’ choir.

The students were put through their paces with the Cathedral vocal coach, attended a samba workshop, ate a wonderful lunch provided by the Norwich School caterers and then spent the afternoon learning material with Ashley Grote (Master of Music at Norwich Cathedral) and his choristers. The day culminated in Evensong in the Cathedral with all students singing alongside the current choristers.

One of the participants, who sings in Firespinners, said: “It was a fantastic opportunity for loads of people. All these people were inspired by the cathedral and really wanted to come.”
