Together To The Workhouse Door
Would you like to join the new Workhouse Community Choir and sing in the world-premiere of ‘Together To The Workhouse Door’?
A new commission of songs written by composer James Redwood and poet Lucy Sheerman from Writers’ Centre Norwich will draw from inspiration of our nationally important archives and collections at Gressenhall.
The main rehearsals will be on 6 & 7 June, with an outdoor evening performance on 7 June (click here for details) and two daytime performances on 8 June at Gressenhall Workhouse.
There is also opportunities to take part in workshops to write the lyrics and music:
Thursday 20 & Friday 21 April –
Two evening writing sessions, led by Lucy, to create poetry and lyrics for their new songs.
Thursday 27 & Friday 28 April –
Two evening creative music sessions, led by James Redwood, in which participants will set these poems to music.
Friday 5 & Tuesday 23 May –
Two evening singing sessions, led by renowned choral conductor David Lawrence, to help rehearse your new pieces.
